Thistle Timber & Building Supplies is one of the largest independent builders merchants in the central belt of Scotland.

Thistle Timber and Building Supplies was established in 1998 at The Wisp, supplying the construction industry with sawn and dressed timber, aggregates, paving, roofing, flooring, bricks, monoblocks and other building materials. We opened our second branch at The Gyle in October 2006.

Both branches include a brilliant landscaping centre, which do an impressive job of conveying just what is possible with a bit of imagination, skill, and the use of quality products.

Only downside is I work a normal 9-5 week so getting to it when its open means a Saturday morning is the only option. All the staff are really helpful. Go out to the yard. Get a list of requirements together. Pay for it at the desk in the main building while the helpful yard crew get the items for you. Jump in the car, drive into the yard, load it directly. Top tips: Have a plan - there is a lot of different timber sizes available. Take a saw, generally 4m+ lengths so make sure you have something to cut it down with in the car with you (Make sure the saw you take is up to the job).
